Mock Ups: Posters

Poster One:

For this mock up poster I have decided to place an image of my main artist within the centre of the page. I have done this so that it will be the first thing that my target audience will notice my poster. I decided to use an image which display my artist smiling as can suggest how she is positive or happy about this album and it's release. Underneath the image, I have decided to place the release information of the album's release date and price on my poster. On this mock up I have used the fonts, 'From Where You Are' for the artist's name as it a bold font that will be eye-catching towards my target audience. While I used the font 'Thin Font', as it was san-serif font and this font will appeal to my target audience as it modern and presented clearly on the page.

Poster Two:

While on this mock up I decided to place an image of a woman holding up a sign. I decided to use this image as I thought that I could place the release information of my album on the sign. The release information that I have planned to use is the album's release date, the price of the album, shops where you can buy the album and the artist's website. On this mock up I used an image of an Itunes logo, this can display how the artist is linked to online businesses like Itunes. In the bottom left hand corner I planned to use a kicker where I could add advertisement to further attract my target audience. I have decided to also place the company's logo on my mock up, so that I can display the support that the artist has for her album. While, I also decided to include the artist's signature on my mock up so that I could display how the artist has included her input on the poster. I have used the font styles 'From Where We Are' and 'Thin Font' for the same reasons as my previous mock up.

Poster Three:

On this mock up I have decided to use an image of my chosen artist holding up a copy of the CD. I chose to use this image it would allow my target audience to know what the album looks like. I decided to place the image within the style of a white polaroid as I felt that the theme of polaroids would reflect the album title well. I On this poster I have used the font 'From Where We Are'; I decided to use this font as it was thick and bold against the page. Furthermore, I chose this font as it was a handwriting style font and I felt that this could further display the theme of polaroids. On the left hand side of the poster, I have decided to include a kicker, the singer's signature, the company logo and an Itunes' logo. I have decided to include a kicker as kickers are basic conventions on poster. The kicker would contain advertisement of the cd that would attract my audience. While I decided to use the singer's signature to display how the singer has included her input on the poster. While I decided to display the company's logo to showcase the support that the singer has and display reference to the music label that the singer is from. I have placed the Itunes' logo on my poster to show my target audience a place where the CD is sold. While on the bottom half of the poster I have decided to place a text box including a plan of the release information that I could include on my poster.

Mock Up: Digipaks 3

Front Cover:

I have decided to use the theme of polaroids on front cover as I felt that this would reflect the album's name; as polaroids often connote ideas of time and age. I decided to include sixteen polaroids on my front cover, as that is the amount of songs on album. Furthermore, I decided to include the track name on each polaroid so that the track-list become memorable to my target audience. I have used the font, 'From Where We Are' as it was a handwriting style font and polaroids often include handwritten text. Furthermore, I liked how the font was bold as this allowed it to dominate the page, making it stand out more to my target audience. I have decided to use a purple background on my front cover as purple is viewed as bright colour; this can display how I have followed basic pop conventions of using bright colours. I also decided include a light shade of purple as this can often connote femininity and this can suggest how the album has songs which are relatable to females.

Booklet Cover:

On my booklet I have decided to use a purple border which contains lyrics from my chosen song, Shake It Off. I decided to include these lyrics as they were well know and because they can reflect how the album contains dance tracks. Within the centre of the border I had planned to use an image of my main actor, from my video, dancing as this can further reflect the lyric's meaning. Furthermore, I wanted to use an image of my main actor smiling as this can connote a positive message to my target audience, suggesting how she is happy about songs on the album. I have used the font 'From Where We Are' as it was bold and dominated the page.

Spine:

On my spine I decided to include music notes between the text. I decided to use music notes as they were are often viewed as a symbol for music and I felt that these would make my spine look more interesting. I have used the font 'From Where We Are' for the album and artist's name on my spine. I did this as I have used it throughout other panels, so this can display how I have used a constant house style throughout my digipaks. Furthermore, I liked how the font stood out against the purple background. I decided to place the font in white as I found that the colour white complimented better with the purple.

CD:

I chose to use the colour purple on my CD so that I could further display how I used a constant colour scheme throughout my digipaks. While, I decided to use the font 'From Where We Are' for the album's name as I have used this font within other panels of my digipaks. On my CD I decided to include music notes behind the album's name, as music notes are often a symbol for music. Furthermore, I felt that this would make my CD look more interesting, however, I do feel that this can make my CD look less professional.

Back Cover:

On my back cover I have planned to use an image of a female smiling while holding a sign. I decided to place the track list on the sign. I decide to use a sign as they are often well-know for broadcasting important information. I think the image is effective as the female is smiling and this can suggest how she is happy about the album. Or it can suggest how the album has a positive tone throughout it. Under the image, I have decided to place the bar code and copyright information, as they are often place at the bottom of back covers. I have also included the company's logo on my back cover to display the support that the artist has. For the track list I decided to use the font 'From Where We Are' as I liked how it was presented clearly and was bold on the page, due the font's thickness.

Overall, on this mock I have decided to use a colour scheme of purple, white and black. I decided to use the colours black and white as they can often connote sophistication, which is something that my final digipaks will aim to be. While, I decided to use the colour purple as it is a bright colour and this can display how I have followed pop conventions of using a bright colour scheme. Additionally, I decided to use a light shade of purple and this can often connote femininity. I thought that this would be effective and appeal to my target audience as a major of it are females. Furthermore, this can suggest how the album has songs which are more relatable towards females. On my digipaks I have used the font 'From Where We Are' as it was a handwriting style font and I felt that this could reflect how the artist has included her input on the magazine. Furthermore, as the font was bold this has allowed it to dominate the page, making my font appear more readable to my target audience.

Digipaks: Mock Up 2

Front Cover:

On my front cover I decided to use an image of dancer as this can instantly portray how the album is upbeat and does contain dance tracks. I decided to include music notes around the main image as music notes are a symbol of music. Furthermore, I felt that they would make my front cover look less dull and add a tone of fun to it.

Inside Cover:

On my booklet I have decided to use images of my footage. As I had planned to include spilt-screen technique in my video for the lyric 'I go on too many dates' I decided to design a similar layout for my booklet. I have decided to use this lyric on my booklet as it well known lyric from the song. Furthermore, I think by using different images of my main actor on different dates, this can further emphaise the lyric's point. I used the font 'Thin Font' for the text on my booklet as it was a san-serif font; and modern fonts often appeal to younger generations so this will appeal to my target audience.

Spine:

I have kept my spine very simple by only including the name of the artist and the album. I used the font 'Thin Font' for my text as it a san-serif fonts; and san-serif fonts are often portrayed as modern. This would appeal to my target audience as the lettering of the text is spread out clearly, making it easy for my target audience to read.

CD:

On my CD I decided to use lyrics from my chosen song, Shake It Off, to first showcase the song's importance. I also I decided to include these lyrics as the song as it was well-know and the main single from the album. I have decided to use the colour purple on my CD as it is a bright colour and it can display how I have followed common pop conventions of using bright colours.

Back Cover:

On my back cover I have used a spaced out layout and think this has been effective as it makes my digipaks look more professional. I have placed the track list within the centre of my back cover so that it is a the first thing that my target audience will see. Furthermore, I did this to follow basic back cover conventions of digipaks. I have used the front 'From Where We Are' as it was quite bold. I found this to be quite effective as it dominating on the page. On the left hand side I have decided to include of the artist. I decided to include a medium long shot where the artist is looking directly at the camera, this can suggest how she confident. While on the right hand side, I decided to place the bar code, company label and copyright information as they are basic conventions that are included in digipaks.

Overall, on this mock up I plan to use a colour scheme purple, white and black. I think that this colour scheme has worked effectively as all the colours complimented each other. I decided to use the colour purple as it was a bright and vibrance colour. This is effective as it can display how I have followed pop conventions of using bright schemes in my mock up. I also decided to use the colour purple as it connote femininity and felt this would be effective as my major of my target audience are females. Furthermore, this could imply how the album contains songs that are more relatable to females. While I decided to use the colours white and black as the often connote sophistication, which is something that my artist is viewed as. I have used the two  fonts 'Thin Font' and 'From Where We Are' throughout my digipaks. Digipaks: Mock Up 1

Front Cover:

I decided to create the layout of my front cover in the style of polaroid as I felt that polaroids would effectively reflect the album's name; as polaroids can often connote ideas of time and age. For my main image, I planned to use a photo of my main actor, from my video, dropping poliards with a nervous smile on her face. I decided this as this can infer how she is clumsy yet she is still being positive, which is something that she been throughout my music video. I have used the font 'From Where We Are' for the artist's initials and the album's name. As it is a handwritten styled font and I thought this would further link into the theme of poliards.

Booklet Cover:

For my booklet I decided to include a similar layout to my front cover. However, this time I decided to include the lyric's 'She's like 'Oh My God' as are well known lyrics from the song. I decided to write this lyric in the font, 'From Where We Are' as it bold - making it look eye-catching on the white border. Furthermore, as it was a handwriting style font this could display how the artist has included her own input on the booklet. I have planned to use one main image of my main actor looking shocked. I decided this as I felt that this would be an effective visual representation of the lyric.

Spine:

I decided to use a simple layout on the spine of my digipak by only including the artist and the album's name. I decided to this so that my spine wasn't over cramped. However, I do think this spine looks slightly dull. I decided to use the font, 'From Where We Are' as it was bold against the white border, which I have used on the spine.

CD:

For my CD I tried to continue using the theme of polaroids by doing a collage of different polaroids to one word lyrics from my chosen song, Shake It Off. I decided to include lyrics from that song as it was the main single off the album and to showcase the song's importance. I decided to use the font, 'From Where We Are' as it was thick and bold on the page. However, I dislike this mock up as I think it looks too cramped and messy.

Back Cover:

I decided to place the company logo, copyright information and the bar code at the bottom of the back cover. I did this because it would then allow to me have more space for the tracklist and the image which I planned to use. I decided to place the track list towards the left hand so that everything was spaced out. I have used the font, 'Thin Font' for the track list as modern style font and this will appeal to my target audience as they come from a younger generation. Furthemore, I liked how the font was presented clearly on the page. While on the right hand side, I have placed polaroids where I could include images from my footage.

Overall I have used a colour scheme of cream, white and black. I think this colour scheme has worked well as all the colour compliment each other well. I decided to use these colours as I felt these reflected the album's name effectively. I have used the colours white and black as they often suggest sophistication, which is something that my main artist is viewed as. While I decided to use the colour the cream as it can suggest connote theme of relaxing and being calming; this can suggest how the album includes some calming or relaxing songs. I have used two constant font throughout this mock up, 'From Where We Are' and 'Thin Font'. I decided to use the font 'From Where We Are' as it was thick and bold on the page, making my text easier to read. Furthermore, as it was handwritten style font this could further reflect the theme of polaroids which I have used in this mock up. While, I have used the font 'Thin Font' as it was modern san-serif font; modern fonts will appeal to my target audience as they are clearly presented on the page and easy to read.

Planning: Focus Group:

I think that my main focus group of my target audience for my video will mainly be girls and youth. As I have my chosen artist, Taylor Swift, is quite popular and has a bigger female fan-base rather than a male due to the singer’s past work. Furthermore, as she is a mainstream artist that targets towards the younger generation, I think it would be wise for me to create a music video that also targets towards youth. Additionally, as my chosen song is a pop song and the genre of pop is shown to be more popular with youth than other older people, due to the upbeat rhythms within pop music.

Representation

As most of my actors that I plan to use within my video are young – I have decided to present youth in a positive light of them having fun e.g. the dancing scenes. I have decided not to portray them in a negative stereotypes such as drugs and alcohol, which youth are often presented in throughout the media, as I want to emphasis positivity throughout my video. Additionally, as most of the actors that I plan to use are female I have decided against using close up shots or shots which cause them to be attractive or sexualised in anyway and not follow Laura Mulvey’s Male Gaze theory – as I believe that females shouldn’t be portrayed in this way, just for the audience’s attention. Also I have decided to use both male and female actors for when my main actor goes on different dates to portray an element of the queer representation and the naturalness of it. I think that these representations will appeal to my audience as I chosen to present all social groups of youth and women in positive ways, which is effective because it further emphasis the song’s inner meaning of positivity.
