Music videos will use a certain category to reflect the style of the music or to emphasis the song's lyrics. Music videos which have been animated can often be more entertaining to watch; however, they can be quite time-consuming. They are only effective if the editing is precise and the cuts are timed well. While in abstract videos they will often have metaphorically meanings behind them. Additionally, they are common to instrumental tracks or songs from the genre of indie. However, abstract videos don't appeal to everyone and people have to be precise in picking camera shots and angles which reflect the meaning of the song well. Whilst narrative videos are more commonly made and they often tell a story behind the song's lyrics. They can also be expensive and you have to ensure that you have a willing cast for the video. While in live action videos are simple and can work well. However, they are only effective if the lip-syncing is timed right.

Different types of Music Videos:
Music videos will often be spilt into different categories - like Animation, Live Action, Narrative Video and Abstruct.

Media Schedule
This is a schedule of when I should have every section within my coursework complete or roughly completed. I am using schedule as a rough guideline, so that it can help manage time me whilst I am making my products. However, the dates which I have included on this are rough and may change whilst I am creating my products.

Research: Mind Maps

I have created a mind-map of different music genres and this can show how many different types of genres there are within the music industry. This will be helpful towards me because it can give me an idea of what genre I would like to pick for my music video. Furthermore, it will give me a better understanding of what genres to research into before deciding what genre I am going to pick overall.

My Intentions
I am Holly Savage. I go to Biddulph High School Sixth Form
and I am doing an A2 media studies course. My intentions are to either create a
music video or a film trailer, which has to be at least 2 minutes long. Right
now, I am unsure of which one I would like to do.
Another intention is to
If I was to create a music video I would be unsure of the genre.
However, I think I would possibility use a song from the artist "Taylor
Swift" as I feel I could create a video which could reflect her lyrics effectively.
Whilst if I made a trailer my genre would be horror, as horror films are quite
successful trailers at a lower budget.
My
intentions are to research recent music videos and recent film trailers, from a
variation of genres, to help give me a better idea of what I would like to
create. Additionally, it will give me an idea of how realistic the
trailer/video would have to be and how well realistically I could create it. I
will go on websites which would advertise both film/music trailers such as Youtube.
Furthermore, I will research budgets of both music videos and trailers - which
will help give me an idea of which I would be more successful at, whilst at a
low budget and a lack of filming experience.
