I decided not
to use a found image for the music company which sponsors my chosen artist, as
I thought creating one would show that I have not used copyright on my digipaks
or posters. As the logo for Big Machine Records, was simply a red truck with
next to the words – big machine, I decided to recreate it with using my own
image of a red car and placing the words “Big Machine” under and over the car.
The colour red can connote passion and this could suggest the company’s own
passion towards their artists. Similarity, the colour red can display a tone of
energy and this could hint at energetic music which the album has. Furthermore,
red is quite an intense colour and this can further bring the black text
forward. Whilst, I decided to use the colour black as my font colour due to
black’s connation of being sophisticated and powerful; which are two things
which a music company would aim to be. I also decided to use a sans serif font
as it is a modern style font and is quite eye-catching due to the font’s own
boldness. I thought about my composition of my logo and decided to place the
text behind the car as it can show the image, (which most people will think
about when they see the logo) as the most important. I placed the word
“Machine” under the car, as it can imply that the car is driving over the word,
whilst the word “Big” is placed behind the upper half of the car as it can
further emphasis the car’s importance. Finally, I decided to use an image of a
car instead of a truck for my logo as a car is simpler and smaller than a truck
and this could infer that despite promoting big artist - the company will also
support smaller unknown artists as well.
