Different types of Music Videos:

Music videos will often be spilt into different categories - like Animation, Live Action, Narrative Video and Abstruct.

Music videos will use a certain category to reflect the style of the music or to emphasis the song's lyrics. Music videos which have been animated can often be more entertaining to watch; however, they can be quite time-consuming. They are only effective if the editing is precise and the cuts are timed well. While in abstract videos they will often have metaphorically meanings behind them. Additionally, they are common to instrumental tracks or songs from the genre of indie. However, abstract videos don't appeal to everyone and people have to be precise in picking camera shots and angles which reflect the meaning of the song well. Whilst narrative videos are more commonly made and they often tell a story behind the song's lyrics. They can also be expensive and you have to ensure that you have a willing cast for the video. While in live action videos are simple and can work well. However, they are only effective if the lip-syncing is timed right.
